LnSaint

For project Roll With It we formed a rockband and named it LnSaint. We wrote two songs for the showcase in Frascati WG (January 2009) and because we got the vibe we continued. Wrote more songs, played a main part in the Roll With It Tour through the Balkan this summer and now we’re back with some serious Art Core setlist.

In September/Oktober 2010 we’ll drive back into the Balkan for a tour of a month, working together with local bands and to play gigs at the bigger stages we couldn’t play at last summer, because of our schedule. This new tour will have again a strong focus on public space performances.

Elke avond verzamelen mannen tussen de 20 en 30 zich in een kale loods in Amsterdam. De Club kent haar eigen regels en wetten. Niemand weet hoeveel leden er precies zijn. Ze komen uit alle lagen van de bevolking. Het is een generatie die zich gevangen voelt in een ogenschijnlijk vrije maatschappij: ‘alles is netjes geregeld, het systeem is gebouwd. Wij hoeven het alleen maar te onderhouden…’ Een allesoverheersende drang naar vrijheid en echtheid neemt de overhand. Een generatie vecht zich letterlijk en figuurlijk los. Amsterdam wordt nooit meer hetzelfde.

Eindelijk weer een nieuwe toneeltekst van Oscar van Woensel. Hij schreef op uitnodiging van regisseur Lucas De Man. Samen vroegen ze Tygo Gernandt, Tim Murck en Guus Boswijk voor de hoofdrollen. De Club begint bij het kopen van een kaartje voor een theaterspektakel. Niemand weet waar het eindigt.

De Club is een hedendaagse mythe over de maatschappij en haar jonge mannen vandaag. Het is hier-en-nu, real time, real life. Geen afstand. We zitten er met z’n allen midden in. Om het echt te voelen. Om te beseffen: This could be you. Or me.

Friday March 19, NHelden is attending Festival Cement in Den Bosch for a for a special meet&eat with young art journalists. We will discuss the role and position of art criticism in the contemporary art scene and will try find out how artists and journalists can collaborate.

On Sunday March 21 NHelden is again at Cement with the MTG Blont performance ‘Zonder zwaartekracht draagt men niets’.

Meet and Eat 2010

We have decided to continue our quest for bring young artists together and creating a thighter and livelier artistic scene. This means that besides the big project of 2010 we will organise 6 dinners with young artists in 6 different cities.

The first three are:

- Sunday February 21st in Arnhem

- Sunday April 25th in Eindhoven

- Sunday June 27th in Groningen

All dinners will take place in the dining room of a house of a family from that city that likes to host some young meeting artists.

LnSaint @ Skena Up

We’re back and that’s the only negative point of this trip. This weekend (4-7 december 2009) we joined the Skena Up festival in Prishtina, Kosovo. With LnSaint to rock an after party (see the amazing review we got (it says in a lot of Albanian words that we are radical performers, brought energy and inspiration). ‘THUS’, by MTG BLONT & ‘HURAH’, a play by Menno Vroon, were presented in the theatre competition of this film & theatre festival. We got invited by Hana Qena, directing student and programmer of Skena Up and a dear friend after our Roll With It tour this summer. It was great to be back in Kosovo with the band and very exciting to experience the audience, confronting them with two quite strong proposals of mime theatre.

Sunday, after performing the last piece I got this overwhelming feeling, experiencing the power of communication through Performing Arts. The differences and boundaries disappear when the audience is touched by your proposal, difficulties in language are solved by hugs, a wink and some good old pantomime. Too bad we couldn’t stay longer. Now we did not get to see a lot of work by others…

I would like to thank everyone who supported us to get to Kosovo once more: This trip represents exactly why I do this, can’t wait till September, when LnSaint will travel through the Balkan again.

And off they went, LnSaint, MTG Blont and the performance of Menno Vroom to the Skena Up festival in Pristhina. They will be there from 4 till 7th of december playing music and performing theatre. photo s will be shown on the website.

We want to thank everybody who helped us to make the trip possible especially the Dutch Embassy in Kosovo.
