Artists in public is a project where young artists across Europe and Beyond meet each other and work together in making art for an audience that is more than the ‘we all know each other” incrowd of the local art world.
In the week of 15th of September, Nhelden and INSTED organised an international meeting for young artists in Belgrade as a first activity of Artists in Public. As an end to the roll with it tour 20 young artists from all over Europe and NY came together in Cultural Center Grad to talk and work together on how todays performing artists could work in and with the public space.
One of the bigger actions we did together in these five days was the OD KUDA performance in which we made an image with Letters (5m by 3m per letter) made out of wheel tyres; OD KUDA means where are you from, KUDA means where are you going to. We put the words on the river side and crossed the OD so that you see that we want people to focus on the where to
instead of the where from. This performance as a reaction to the growing nationalism and neo conservatism in our countries.

Artists in Public will organise more events, meetings and happenings with and by artists all over Europe and beyond. The next step will be that we are going to do one performance in different cities at the same time the second week of January. We will keep you update on this website.
