Sunday 24th of january Bubble Boy will play at the Bronx theatre in Brussels. The day after we present the project at the ’see and buy’ day of Stip Productions in Utrecht where the show will be sold for October and November 2010 in Holland and Belgium and maybe Germany. Hear hear.
We’re back and that’s the only negative point of this trip. This weekend (4-7 december 2009) we joined the Skena Up festival in Prishtina, Kosovo. With LnSaint to rock an after party (see the amazing review we got (it says in a lot of Albanian words that we are radical performers, brought energy and inspiration). ‘THUS’, by MTG BLONT & ‘HURAH’, a play by Menno Vroon, were presented in the theatre competition of this film & theatre festival. We got invited by Hana Qena, directing student and programmer of Skena Up and a dear friend after our Roll With It tour this summer. It was great to be back in Kosovo with the band and very exciting to experience the audience, confronting them with two quite strong proposals of mime theatre.
Sunday, after performing the last piece I got this overwhelming feeling, experiencing the power of communication through Performing Arts. The differences and boundaries disappear when the audience is touched by your proposal, difficulties in language are solved by hugs, a wink and some good old pantomime. Too bad we couldn’t stay longer. Now we did not get to see a lot of work by others…
I would like to thank everyone who supported us to get to Kosovo once more: This trip represents exactly why I do this, can’t wait till September, when LnSaint will travel through the Balkan again.

Gisteravond, De Groene Engel, Oss. MTG BLONT speelt ZO komt de naakte waarheid aan haar licht. Dave – Sabin – Staring, de waardige doordeweeks vervanger van Floor -Flo- van Dongen, is al de hele dag in touw en steiger als Floor -DDDebby- van Leeuwen en Bas -Spyker- van Rijnsoever het mooie theater in komen wandelen. “4 reserveringen” en een pijnlijke glimlach wordt er bij het Brabants warm onthaal meegedeeld… Na een diepgaand zware mooie doorloop van MTG BLONT speelt zonder zwaartekracht draagt men niets, die middag, komt dit nieuws op een rauw dak en een aantal lachspieren terecht. Na een melig biertje, een zalmmoot, biefstuk en iets vegetarisch met paddestoelen besluiten we uit te vinden hoe professioneel we zijn en er heel erg voor te gaan. De tribune in het donker, een rijtje stoelen op de vloer. De statistieken drastisch aangepast (0,08 van u woont/ woonde op uw 40e bij uw ouders) en performance Kaars1 gesneuveld (voor publieksparticipatie braucht man publik). Toch hangt er door de onderspanning en de diepgang van het nieuwe proces iets bijzonders in de lucht, zet de situatie de voorstelling opnieuw op z’n plek. Ik vond het een bijzonder intense ‘echte’ avond. De 4 dames die kwamen waren er echt en met enkel hen op onze vloer moesten wij daar ook wel zijn en volgens mij waren we er… echt.
MTG BLONT, LnSaint & ‘HOERA” (a performance directed by Menno Vroon) are selected for the international theatre and film festival Skena Up, wich will take place in Prishtina, Kosovo. From 4 to 7 December we’ll be there to play the two performances and a gig in ODA theater, a venue LnSaint also rocked last summer on our RollWitIt tour. We’re very happy to announce that we’ll Roll With It again!

Last Friday and Saturday we played Bubble Boy at the Kopergietery in Gent. The first one was on friday afternoon for schools and I must say, the told us that Belgian kids are much more calm and quiet than Dutch kids but luckily they showed us wrong. All 180 kids were so in the performance that they shouted, laughed, applauded and even sung.
In the evening we had our ‘Flemisch premiere’ with twenty kids and all the rest adults. The show went well and the audience was very moved in different ways. There were wome people that didn’t like our direct here and now style but most of the audience was really into it and even though it is a children s play they were talking a lot about the what and hows of the show. When the audience is busy with the show and not with telling you’ nice job or it was ok’ then you did a nice job.
On Saturday we played for families with kids and you notice immediately that that is the audience for who this piece is made. The children loved it and the parents were moved as well.
We worked for this reprise with one new doctor, Griet Dobbelaere and a new mama, Mieke Versyp and a new boy, Kasper.
We will play Bubble boy again on 24 and 25 of January in Brussels and Utrecht and October-November 2010 we will tour it in Holland and Belgium.
